Information for Parents
Prior to an evaluation, parents and teachers will be asked to complete a variety of questionnaires, depending on the reason for the evaluation. On the day of the appointment, we will review the questionnaires, I will gather additional information, and your child will have an opportunity to settle in. The evaluations typically take 3-4 hours (with breaks), depending on the age of the child. Testing may include intellectual, developmental, academic, social, emotional, language, and/or motor assessments. When you return to pick up your child, we will have a conference to discuss the findings. Older students take part in the conference. Approximately one week later, you will receive a comprehensive written report including background, testing results, interpretation, and recommendations.
*CHILDREN AND THE ADULT(S) ACCOMPANYING THE CHILD TO THE VISIT MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED FOR COVID 19.
About Me
Since 2000, I've been providing specialized services to children in Hawaii who are experiencing developmental/learning differences. Children's well-being is my number one priority, and I work hard with families to ensure children's challenges are understood and they get the support they need to be successful.
Working with children was always the path I knew I wanted to follow. As a registered nurse and then as a pediatric nurse practitioner, I spent several years providing primary health care to children. Gravitating towards children with special needs, I went back to school for a doctoral degree in child development and family studies. Working at University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., I evaluated children in both pediatric neurology and child development clinics.
